6 Things You NEED in Your Newborn’s Diaper Bag

January 27, 2019 by No Comments

No, your social life isn’t over. But it’s definitely different – just like your bellybutton.

It’s important for every new parent to get up and go out. So I wrote this checklist to take the guesswork out of packing that first diaper bag.

Prep at any week for every leak with:

1. Baby Bag

  • A one week old’s diaper bag is already an infinite abyss. When you’re stressed out and poop is absolutely everywhere, you’ll be thankful to have a baby bag inside of your diaper bag that includes the essentials for changing a diaper: diapers, wipes, tushy cream, purell. This helps keep the crucial necessities all in one place.
  • #kaufMOMhack: Buy a bag that you love since you’ll be using it all the time. And spread the love every time you spread that cream too. This camo one from Designs that Donate will help you do just that.

2. Travel Table

  • A foldable, traveling Changing Pad should always be in the diaper bag to place on top of the yucky changing tables you’ll inevitably encounter as a new mom.

3. Tushy Tools

  • Back to the basics, I recommend everyone stock and re-stock (every time you come home) with diapers & sensitive wipes.
  • We also lather our baby’s tushy with sensitive baby aquaphor to prevent diaper rash.

4. Sanitation Supplies

  • Always pack 2 emergency changes of clothes for your little one. Yes, 2 – and include accessories like socks that might get caught in the crossfire.
  • Carry a full mini waste bag dispenser for easy cleanup.
  • #kaufMOMhack: The pet waste options come with 5x the amount of bags. While your baby is less than 20 pounds, these will do the trick AND save money, time, and space in the diaper bag. And this EPI technology version is better for the environment too.
  • Hand sanitizer can go all the way up to your elbows if necessary – remember that.

5. Emergency Outfits

  • This isn’t fashion week, it’s about survival. Any diaper bag should be fully-stocked with 2 backup all-in-one outfits for those inevitable blowouts experienced by every parent before they get their “you’re an amazing daddy/mommy” medal.
  • Bury a few simple basics in the bottom of that bag, like footed pajamas. They’ll double as a doodie disaster fix and a savior if you’re ever facing an unforeseen airport delay.

6. Bag Bonuses

  • Going out for too many minutes to count? Bring your breasts or go-to bottles, and slurping supplies – the best bibs & burp cloths – to keep your baby fed and the area around you spotless. Use code KAUFMOM for 20% off of my favorite Chad & Jake sets!
  • Breastfeeding or constantly on the go? Pack a few mom snacks to have with you at all times. The diaper bag is your bag too.
  • Going for mother of the year? Stash a few small toys in the bottom of the bag too.
