Top 10 Baby Registry Must-Haves for 2019: And Why I LOVE Them

January 13, 2019 by 2 Comments

You know you’re a parent when you start getting excited about baby gear. Your friend’s friend might have a private jet but you haven’t seen how lightweight my carseat is.

Here are my top 10 baby registry must-haves for 2019:

1. Doona Carseat & Stroller

This one invention made me feel like a capable mother within 1-day of giving birth. And it kind of made me feel like superwoman when I collapsed it without breaking a sweat. This is a carseat that doubles as a travel stroller. The carseat can be used with or without the base (hello, regular ubers and a normal life with a baby).

2. Halo “Bassinest” Swivel

To my dismay, healthy babies only need to sleep next to mommy in a cutesy bassinet for a few weeks. The most functional, sleep-safe, fiscally responsible option is the Halo. It didn’t read bedtime stories to our son or sky-rocket into outer-space like some of its more expensive competitors but it made for the easiest transition from bassinet-to-crib and made midnight breastfeeding a breeze.

3. Infant Optics

For those few moments in the beginning when baby isn’t in your arms, or they’re all grown up (8 weeks old) and sleeping in their own room, you’ll want this video monitor. I love watching my son fall asleep on the screen and it’s easy to tell if he is just coo-ing at the ceiling or if he’s flipped onto his belly in distress when I hear him on the monitor.

4. Baby Bjorn Bouncer

Were you thinking about investing in a chic loveseat or chair from west elm for your living room? If you’re pregnant or a new mom, consider this chic complement to your home instead.

#kaufMOMhack: This can be used as a post-meal upright tummy strategy for newborns, a pre “highchair” chair for the first few bites of rice cereal for four month olds, and a soothing bouncy seat for all early stages.

5. Boppy Carrier

I want to say that my son wanted to be in my arms every single second of the day when he was first born, but the reality is that I was the one with the separation anxiety. Whenever we weren’t doing skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, or otherwise engaged with each other, I loved wrapping him up in this carrier. I recommend this type of wrap, adjustable carrier because it’s suitable for most newborns before they reach the weight requirements of the larger, grown up baby versions.

6. Baby Einstein Discovery Gym

This can be used for Tummy Time and “Free Play.” What is “Free Play?” It’s actually really important for babies to have time to explore their surroundings, notice patterns, discern colors, etc. And it’s really important for mommy to be able to binge a little Netflix on maternity leave.

#kaufMOMhack: Set the timer for a minute and while your baby does his or her first few “Tummy Times,” plank alongside them to begin rebuilding your core.

7. DockATot

For those times when you need to take a shower but there’s no one else to watch your newborn so they end up in the bathroom with you. Also, I like to keep the basinette and crib reserved for nighttime to help with baby’s sense of time. This was the perfect

#kaufMOMhack: Use a blanket on top of the DockATot every time you use it. This makes for an easier cleanup.

8. Ubbi

True Story: My son went through a 1-month supply of diapers in 1-week. You’re going to throw away A LOT of diapers as a new parent. Invest in a diaper pale that uses regular trash-bags that doesn’t require a manual to operate.

9. American Red Cross Healthcare & Grooming Kit

A wide variety of basic necessities that everyone will need for baby. Everyone should always be stocked with first aid supplies but this kit also includes a few beauty staples. Once baby’s hair is long enough, get ready to play with that brush to make a mohawk!

10. Jumbo Decor

Or something like this. Any registry should have one piece of arguably nonsensical decor on it. You’ll want a few wild cards like this to make your registry yours and your baby’s room theirs with a little personality <3.
