Soaring through Six: 6 Month Old Must-Haves for 2019
I feel like I took a pregnancy test yesterday, but my husband and I just shot fully art-directed Instagram pics for my son’s 6-month “birthday.” Insane.
In my house (AKA my NYC apartment), we are soaring through six (months)with these must-haves right now:
1. The Throne (A Highchair)
Your little king or queen is now the VIP at every dinner table. Later this month, I’ll be diving into EVERYTHING my little one has taught me thus far about food…but the first and most important must-have for his first meals? A highchair!
#kaufMOMhack: Invest in a nice highchair that you’ll want to show off next to your dining table, but opt for a dark color that will hide copious amounts of pureed carrot stains.
2. Baby Equinox Membership (Activity Gym)
“Tummy Time Torture” is now a thing of the past. By this point, most babies start to get mobile. And CURIOUS. They want to be sliding around, rolling about, and surprised by new things.
We started with a different gym when our son was first born, and we’ll probably surprise him with another in the coming months – because who doesn’t get bored of doing the same workout every day?
3. Mommy Showstopper (An Epic Diaper Bag)
Your six-month old socialite has grown from a sheltered newborn into a brunch date, dinner companion, instagram influencer, and fashion icon.
And if the six-month old’s mommy is anything like me, when she’s carrying baby, her hands are too full for a handbag…so her diaper bag should be a showstopper.
4. A Private Tutor (Educational Toys)
For those few minutes when parents are distracted or taking a pause from class of 2039 college prep, it’s time for toys that talk. And say their names.
More to follow on the educational pursuits that we’ve practiced thus far with our mensa. 😉
5. Snuggly Situation (Snowsuit)
If you live in the US, it’s snuggle season. Your baby’s snow gear should be comfortable for them and cuddly for you.
#kaufMOMhack: In between any incredible high-end winter gifts that people shower your baby with, keep a few lighter weight full-body sweatshirt snowsuits on hand. My faves are from Gap & Nordstrom.
6. An Orthodontist (Teething Toys)
Babies cut teeth at different times. Mine doesn’t have a white beauty in sight just yet but he’s showing the early signs of teething and wants EVERYTHING in his mouth. His favorite thing to nibble? This insanely inexpensive set of keys.
