3 Things I’m Doing This Fall
The start of a new season always offers a chance to set intentions and refresh perspectives. Regardless of the fact that the pandemic is still ongoing, political anxiety is at an all-time high, and our “new normal” seems to follow us like an unrelenting cloud, it’s fall now. And this particular fall is paved with opportunity. Read on for the three things I’ll be doing as the leaves change.
Voting
At times, this year challenged my sense of reality and made me feel powerless. But, the fact is that we do have the power to enact change. I’m taking back control again and channeling my negative energy into actions that can make a difference. Because we should never underestimate the power of our voices.
Text VOTE to 26797 to check your registration and confirm any other details you’ll need to make your vote count this year. Or visit Vote.org and take action now to make sure that you’ll be able to use your voice. My husband and I applied for our absentee ballots to ensure that we could participate in the election regardless of the state of New York on election day. I also have bolder and inspiring friends who have applied to work the polls. Regardless of your method of voting or ability to get heavily involved, remember that every single vote counts.
Making a statement
There’s just something about statement jewelry that seems to shine a light in the middle of the pandemic. And it’s no secret that I’ve been stacking my favorite pieces with WFH staples and lounge-ready pajamas. But this season, my attention is on the designers giving back.
Luckily, the latest “it necklace” makes a statement that pays tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It stands to empower and support women’s rights. The Ruth necklace by The Gibson Collective was created to honor the legacy of RBG and all of the women who continue to support her ideals. Proceeds will go to the Stanton Strong Foundation to support women’s rights.
Embracing Tradition
I will quite literally surf from a wave of apples & honey through to a pile of candy corn this year too. From the culturally Jewish traditions that breed comfort in these uncertain times to the Hallmark hilarity that will undoubtedly ensue, I’m going all in.
Call me basic, but I can’t wait to try every seasonal item from Trader Joes and share my unsolicited reviews with my family, friends, and zoom companions. If not now, when?
I can think of no better way to boost my spirits and contribute to the wave of positivity that each new season brings than to go all in. So, I’m going all in. If you’re unable to find me, check your local pumpkin spice queue at Starbucks or virtual apple orchard. I’ll be there. And I’m really looking forward to it.
